College Essay Advisors Students who wish to have an SAT or ACT score reviewed with their admissions application must submit at least one set of test scores. (We do not require the SAT Essay or ACT Writing scores.) Scores included in transcripts and copies of score reports don’t meet this requirement. Start with a few lines that introduce the topic of your essay in a compelling and personal way. If you have to write 2 essays from very similar prompts or questions, it's okay to reuse ideas or modify a previous draft. Just make sure that your essay effectively addresses all aspects of the prompt. Explaining a student’s extracurricular activities is an integral part of the holistic admissions process at U.S. universities. For example, one student wrote an essay about his interest in cryptocurrency â€" currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum that are alternatives to actual money. It was a great story about his intellectual curiosity and passion for research, but cryptocurrencies are an abstract topic and, therefore, hard to write about. After some coaching, he decided to begin the story with a line that confronted people’s false cryptocurrency image head-on. For your ending, make sure you leave the reader with the message you mean to convey. Ask yourself how you can end the essay with a line that expresses a meaningful positive message about your character and the difference you intend to make in the world. We think of them as an opportunity for students to tell us about themselves, their tastes, and their ambitions. They can be approached with utter seriousness, complete fancy, or something in between. A completed great admissions essay does everything outlined above. It flows well, is well structured and engaging and it is 100% mistake free.
